Where to fish
Fish, they say, are where you find them. Just like in other places, that's true on Fort Peck Reservoir, too.
But a person new to a lake has to figure out somewhere to start. Here's just that -- some tips on where to start looking for those fish:
1. Hell Creek Point -- Good area for spring lake trout.
2. Gilbert Creek Bay -- Good area for spring lake trout.
3. Crooked Creek Bay -- Good area for spring lake trout.
4. Sutherlin Bay -- Good area for spring northerns at head of the bay.
5. Hell Creek Bay -- Good area for spring northerns at head of the bay.
6. Timber Creek -- Good area for spring walleyes.
7. K Marker -- Good area for spring, early summer walleyes, pike.
8. Bone Trail -- Good area for smallmouth bass in spring and summer.
9. J Marker -- Good area for spring, early summer walleyes, pike.
10. I Marker -- Good area for early to mid-summer walleyes, pike.
11. Snow Creek Bay -- Good area for early to mid-summer walleyes, pike, smallmouth bass.
12. Point of Sutherlin Bay -- Good area for mid-summer walleyes, northern pike.
13. Sutherlin to Little Duck -- Good area for mid-summer walleyes, northern pike.
14. PWT Point -- Good area for late summer walleyes, northern pike.
15. Hell Creek East Points -- Good for winter walleyes, northern pike, lake trout.
16. Tip of Sutherlin Bay -- Good for winter walleyes, northern pike, lake trout.
